Built Green Sustainable Design

Like many other urban centers today, developers embraced the built green philosophy and incorporated sustainable design elements throughout Belmar.  In perfect union with this type of thinking, Urban Anatomy was beautifully blended into the Belmar landscape.  This unique public art project adds thought provoking pieces of art to otherwise overlooked elements of the urban environment.  Manhole covers, concrete joints in the sidewalk, grates and catch basins are artfully visible to passersby with the addition of small works of art, fragments of poetry, and other creative vignettes. Internationally recognized artists and writers were the initial contributors to the project including The Center for Land Use Interpretation, and Liliana Porter just to name two.  The Center for Land Use Interpretation is a Los Angeles based company raising awareness about human created landscapes through art and education.  Ms. Porter is an Argentinian artist whose work hangs in the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. 

Dining at Belmar

Aspen Grove is an open-air retail lifestyle center and a premier piece of Denver real estate.  Located in Littleton CO, Aspen Grove draws most of its traffic from nearby Highlands Ranch homes, Littleton homes, and Centennial homes.  

The Brands

With over 50 of the finest stores and restaurants excellent shopping options abound at Aspen Grove.  Some favorite retailers include Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Apple Store, Chico’s, Talbots, White House Black Market, and Lucky Brand Jeans.  There are many other wonderful shops at Aspen Grove.  I would recommend taking the time to start at one end of the center and working your way to the other end.

FlatIron Crossing is a newer venue located near Broomfield homes northwest of Denver.  Befitting of high country Colorado real estate, the Denver shopping center was designed to fit the lifestyle of the area.  Rugged stone pillars, wooden rafters and a welcoming waterfall pool provide a Colorado lodge style feel.  Seamlessly integrating the indoors with the outdoors The Village, an open-air shopping area at FlatIron Crossing adds to the ski country ambiance.

Like some of the other larger shopping centers and malls, FlatIron has a number of entertainment areas as well as providing visitors with shopping and dining options. Check out the AMC FlatIron Crossing 14 with a new 3D digitial screen and 14 auditoriums with stadium-style seating.

If you are shopping with your children then you will definitely appreciate the various playground type options at FlatIron.  The Kids Crossing Play Area is located in the Food Court area on the upper level and provides a nice break from shopping.  The very cool Kids Giant Outdoor Sandbox is located outside the Food Court area and is quite popular with both kids and parents.  The Village Green Play Area is located in The Village close to Bloom.   

Giving Back

FlatIrons has shown its dedication to the community through its volunteer efforts, financial support, in-kind donations and partnerships with non-profit organizations.  The annual Summer Nights Concert Series which happens every Thursday night from June through August in The Village provides the perfect venue for to host the Humane Society of Boulder Valley Pet Care Cruiser.  Pet Care Cruiser attracts thousands of visitors some of which come looking to adopt a homeless pet.  FlatIron employees can also be found volunteering for Habitat For Humanity throughout the year.  Donations and contributions are generously given to a number of local associations and organizations.

Residents of nearby Denver homes and all over the Metro Denver real estate area love Larimer Square for its pure genuine feel.  Larimer Square has a rich past as one of the oldest blocks in Denver and the original location of Denver’s first post office.  It was also home to Denver’s first bank, theater, bookstore, photographer and dry good store.  The original City and County building, torn down in the 1940’s, stood on the corner of 14th and Larimer.

Today Larimer Square is a distinctive urban shopping and dining area with 40 retailers and restaurants.  Sometimes things just seem to fall into place with the right mix of creativity and foresight.  Attracting just the right merchants, Hermanson, owner of the Square, is focused on keeping the community updated and fresh.

The highly anticipated Green Russell joins the family of other very cool establishments by Denver restaurateur and Chef, Frank Bonnano.  The Prohibition style underground bar was named after an 1850’s gold miner who had been left behind and abandoned by others in his party.  His determination and will to take risks proved successful for him when he found gold on the Confluence.

A very clever entrance provides just the type of look and feel you would expect to see in a Prohibition era establishment.  A small sign reads Green Russell over the stairs leading to Wednesday’s Pie, another Bonnano venue and the perfect set up for a hidden bar.  Wednesday’s Pie is open only on Wednesday and features three kinds of old fashioned sweet treats, giving “homemade pies” a whole new definition.  Swinging doors at the back of the shop lead you to the Green Russell.  A step through them takes you back to another time.  Featuring the art of the cocktail and a quiet place to just enjoy one, Green Russell is a quiet lounge where you can enjoy the perfect drink and good conversation.  An elegant old fashioned speakeasy feel, block ice, freshly squeezed and pressed juices, and fresh herbs add to the authenticity of the bar.  You will only find one beer at Green Russell, carefully and intentionally brewed by The Great Divide Brewing Co.

Whether you live in the South Denver area or minutes from Larimer, it is definitely a place you should check out – often!
